Would you rather:

  1. Win a Godel Prize
  2. Win a Knuth Prize
  3. Have a prize named after you when you are dead
  4. Have a prize named after you when you are alive
I pick 4; however, I doubt I'll have of 1,2,3,4 happen to me.

How about you?

  2. To frame a similar question in another way, let's say I was successful in all the mathematical problems I periodically reattempt to solve: finding a very fast factorisation algorithm, proving the Collatz Conjecture and proving Goldbach's conjecture (preferably all in the same year :-) what would by my chances of getting all four (the generalisation being: what would one have to do to actually get all four ?)

    1. Prove that P=NP. You'll win #1 and #2 and should have #4 happen but you won't live long after announcing it, leading to #3.

  3. 4 is very easy - just take all your savings (or sell house) and organize your prize.
