Let me clarify. While there have been several Ph.D's in Kolmogorov Complexity, Troy Lee was apparently the first in Amsterdam, generally thought of as one of the strongholds in the topic.
Ahh. That makes more sense. I still find it shocking he is the first from Amsterdam.
