Won't they seem like past-year's product a few years down the road when they try for a tenure-track position against fresh Ph.D.s?<br /></i><br /><br />Actually, its time to give up the delusion of landing a "tenure-track" position with a fresh Phd in TCS. A few years of postdoc experience must be considered a requirement rather than a shortcoming. This would bring TCS hiring more in tune with other areas of math (or for that matter other scientific disciplines) where fresh Phds (even very good ones) are not considered as "mature enough" for a tenure-track hire. The position at the University of Southern Denmark does seem to be legit, though. Thanks Lance! <br /><br />If a location is not advertising, they also will not hire, so it doesn't help to apply.
